Civil Partnerships

Civil Partnerships are a new legal relationship which can be registered by two people of the same sex, giving legal recognition for your relationship.

When considering what to write inside your civil partnership invitations , whether your civil partnership is relaxed or formal, you need to include certain information:

• you and your partners name
• where the ceremony is taking place
• date, month and year of the ceremony
• the location of the reception
• time of the ceremony
• address to which guests should reply (if no RSVP card is included)

In heterosexual weddings it is traditional for the bride's parents to send out the invitations, however in civil partnership invitations it is generally the couple who are hosting. Below is an example wording.

Civil Partnership Ceremony:
A Civil Partnership Ceremony allows same-sex couples to have their relationship recognised officially in a similar way to a civil marriage,
